Common Questions from Medical Offices

Travel medicine is fully private-pay and not part of public healthcare billing systems like MSP, OHIP, or AHCIP. There’s no overlap or conflict with public billing or rostered patient responsibilities—making it easy and straightforward for your practice and your patients.

No referral is required. Patients can self-book online at virtualtravelclinic.ca or phone 1-833-359-4669.

We only share information with your practice if the patient requests it. By default, all communication stays private—always with the patient’s consent and comfort in mind.

All consultations are delivered by our expert medical team, led by Canadian physicians certified by the International Society of Travel Medicine (ISTM). Each care plan is personalized, evidence-based, and reviewed by a licensed doctor—so your patients receive trusted guidance backed by global standards in travel health.

Yes.  Prescriptions are only sent to PHAC-designated Yellow Fever centres. We direct patients appropriately.

Prescriptions are sent directly to the patient’s chosen pharmacy, including over 100 VirtualTravelClinic.ca partner pharmacies Canada-wide.

Consultations range from $54.99 to $79.99, with reduced pricing for specific consult types (e.g., Malaria only) or group appointments. Vaccines and medications are paid for separately at the pharmacy, possibly by their insurance provider.

Patients pay out of pocket for consultations.  Any vaccine insurance claims are handled independently by the patient and/or pharmacist.

VirtualTravelClinic.ca is available to all Canadian residents via telemedicine, 7 days a week with appointments in the morning, afternoon and evening.

You can let patients know that your office doesn’t specialize in travel medicine and that you’re referring them to a trusted, independent service. VirtualTravelClinic.ca provides destination-specific expertise and personalized care—without impacting your existing patient relationship or care plan.

There’s no formal agreement or obligation on your part—just a helpful, trusted resource you can share with patients who need expert travel health support.

For the best protection, we recommend booking a travel health consultation at least 4 to 6 weeks before departure. This allows enough time for vaccines to take effect—especially those that require multiple doses spaced over several weeks.

We understand that some trips come up last minute. That’s why we offer consultations at any time before departure—providing personalized travel health recommendations based on how much time your patient has before they go.

Yes—our doctors carefully review each patient’s medical history during intake and provide travel health recommendations that are personalized, safe, and aligned with their unique needs.
